This Sunday - No Livestream, Acts in Every Day, June Office Hours

Slave Lake Alliance Church
Newsletter for Friday June 12, 2026
This Sunday

This Sunday

 Morning Worship – 11 AM,

This Sunday at SLAC

As we gather this Sunday, we’re looking forward to being together as a church family—worshipping, learning, and following where God is leading.

Join us in a time of worship through music, lifting our voices together and creating space to refocus our hearts on Him.

We will be watching part 1 of a sermon series titled "Renovate"-"What Are You Building Your Life On?"

For families, Kids’ Ministries are available during the service, with Nursery for newborns to age 5 and Kids’ Church for ages 6–11. Children will be dismissed after the music portion of the service.

If someone has been on your heart lately, this could be a great Sunday to invite them to join you.

We’re grateful for each of you and look forward to gathering this Sunday again.

 Kids' Ministry Fall Planning Meeting

Kids' Ministry Fall Planning Meeting

As we look ahead to the fall, we're excited to begin exploring new ideas and opportunities for our Kids' Ministry!

If you currently serve in Nursery or Kids' Church, or have ever considered becoming involved in children's ministry, we'd love for you to join us for a special planning meeting following the service.

Together, we'll discuss our vision for children from newborn through age 11, share some new ideas being considered for the coming ministry year, and explore ways we can continue helping our children grow in their faith and knowledge of Jesus.

This meeting is open to all current volunteers, parents, grandparents, and anyone interested in learning more about serving in Kids' Ministry.

Whether you're a longtime volunteer or simply curious about what the future may hold, we'd love to have your voice, ideas, and input as we plan for the fall.

Upstairs following the service

Come dream with us about the future of Kids' Ministry at SLAC!

June Office Hours Update

June Office Hours Update

As we move into the summer season, we'd like to share a few important updates regarding ministry and office availability over the next few weeks.

Pastor Heath will be away from June 8 through June 23 as he attends the Christian & Missionary Alliance General Assembly and enjoys some vacation time. We are grateful for opportunities such as General Assembly, where Alliance pastors from across Canada gather for worship, encouragement, prayer, and ministry updates.

During the week of June 15 through June 23, the church office will not be regularly staffed. However, please be assured that phone messages and email will continue to be monitored regularly, and we will respond as promptly as possible.

A reminder as well that our June 14 worship service will not be livestreamed. During that service, we will be sharing a video message as part of our worship gathering. We look forward to worshipping together in person that Sunday.

Thank you for your understanding and support. Please continue to pray for Pastor Heath as he travels, participates in General Assembly, and enjoys a time of rest and renewal.

We look forward to gathering together throughout the summer and seeing how God continues to work in our church family.

Acts in Everyday Life

Acts in Everyday Life

One of the most memorable moments from Sunday's message was the picture of the sheep staying close to the shepherd.

Not because the sheep were foolish, but because they needed guidance, food, and protection. Left on their own, they were far more vulnerable. Together, near the shepherd, they were safe.

The same is true for us.

In a busy world, it is easy to drift. We become distracted by work, responsibilities, activities, and endless demands on our attention. Before long, we may find ourselves feeling distant from God without ever intentionally choosing to walk away.

The good news is that the Shepherd has not moved.

This week, consider this question:

Am I intentionally staying close to Jesus, or am I simply hoping proximity will happen on its own?

Faith grows when we remain near the Shepherd. Not through perfection, but through daily attention, trust, and obedience.

The invitation this week is simple: stay close.

 Tiny Practice

Tiny Practice

Stay Close

Each day this week, set aside five minutes to be alone with God.

Read a few verses of Scripture.
Pray.
Sit quietly.
Take a walk.
Listen.

The goal isn't to accomplish something.

The goal is simply to spend time with the Shepherd.

At the end of the week, ask yourself:

Did I notice God's presence more because I intentionally made space for Him?

Small moments spent with God often have a bigger impact than we realize.
