Slave Lake Alliance Church
The Week Ahead - October 2, 2026
This Sunday at SLAC

This Sunday at SLAC

Our fall rhythm is underway at SLAC, with Sunday Morning Bible Study, Nursery and Kids’ Church all back as part of our Sunday mornings together.

Our morning begins at 9:30 AM with Sunday Morning Bible Study. Whether you’ve been part of the group before or would like to join for the first time, you’re always welcome to come a little earlier and spend time together in God’s Word.

Then at 11:00 AM, we’ll gather for Sunday Morning Worship as Pastor Heath continues our fall sermon series:

What is God Calling Us to Be?

Last Sunday, Called to Be continued with our second “C”: Charity. This Sunday, we move into week three and explore the next “C” in our series: Corporate.

Nursery and Kids’ Church are available during the service. Children will remain with their families for the opening portion of worship and will be dismissed to their ministries before the message.

Nursery: Ages 0–3
Kids’ Church: Ages 4–11

Who’s one person you could invite to sit beside you this Sunday? Sometimes belonging begins with a simple invitation.

Sunday Morning Bible Study • 9:30 AM
Sunday Morning Worship • 11:00 AM

We look forward to worshipping, remembering, and gathering together with you this Sunday!

Monthly Potluck

Monthly Potluck

Good Ole Fashion Traditional Potluck

No theme. No assigned dishes. No sign-up sheet telling you what to bring.

This month, we're going old-school potluck!

Bring a dish you'd enjoy sharing and leave the rest to everyone else. Maybe it's a favourite family recipe, your go-to casserole, a salad, something from the slow cooker, a dessert you couldn't resist making, or whatever happens to inspire you that weekend.

Main dish, side dish, salad or dessert... the choice is entirely yours!

Will we end up with six casseroles and twelve desserts? Maybe. And somehow, that's part of the fun.

More than anything, our monthly potluck is about sharing a table, enjoying good conversation, and making room to know one another a little better.

We'll provide the buns and beverages. You bring something to share and your appetite!

Pull up a chair and join us after the service this Sunday, October 4.

Everyone is welcome. There's always room at the table.

Let Jean know what you're bringing! (meals@slavelakealliance.com)

Kids' Ministry Check-In

Kids' Ministry Check-In

We want Sunday mornings to be safe, simple and welcoming for every child joining us in Nursery or Kids’ Church.

Our ministry age groups are:

Nursery • Ages 0–3
Kids’ Church • Ages 4–11

Checking In

Pre-service check-in begins at 10:30 AM at the Connection Desk.

We ask all parents and guardians to check in at the Connection Desk before their child heads to Nursery or Kids’ Church. Even if your family has checked in before, please take a moment to make sure the information we have for your child is complete and correct.

Birthdates are especially important. Your child’s date of birth helps our check-in system identify the appropriate ministry room for their age, so please make sure we have an accurate birthdate on file.

Children attending Kids’ Church will begin the morning in the sanctuary with their families and will be dismissed before the message.

When it’s time to head to their ministry area, please escort your child to their room rather than sending them on their own.

Nursery is located downstairs.
Kids’ Church is located upstairs.

If it’s your child’s first time with us, welcome! Our Connection Desk team will help you complete the information we need, so our ministry leaders can care for your child well.

We’re looking forward to another Sunday of learning, growing and having fun together!

Alpha Youth

Alpha Youth

Sunday, October 4, 2026

Got questions about life, faith, God, or what any of it has to do with you? Good. Bring them.

Alpha Youth is a chance to hang out, hear different perspectives, ask questions, share what you think, and explore faith together.

You don’t have to know what you believe. You don’t need the “right” answers. And you definitely don’t need to already be part of our church.

If you’re in Grades 7–12, you’re invited. Bring a friend and join the conversation.

Here’s where the conversation is headed:

Oct 4 • Welcome to the Conversation
Oct 18 • Jesus Is…
Nov 1 • What Does Real Love Look Like?
Nov 15 • Why Would I Want a Relationship with God?
Dec 6 • What Does a Relationship with God Look Like?

Christmas Break

Jan 17 • Who Is the Holy Spirit?
Jan 31 • How Can I Be Filled with the Holy Spirit?
Feb 7 • How Does God Help Us Overcome Evil?
Feb 28 • Does God Heal Today?
Mar 21 • What Happens Next?

Come curious. Come with questions. Come as you are.

Prayer Meeting

Prayer Meeting

Monday, October 5, 2026

Corporate prayer is an important part of the life of the church, along with worship, sound doctrine, communion, and fellowship. The early church met regularly to learn the doctrine of the apostles, break bread, and pray together (Acts 2:42). When we pray together with other believers, the effects can be very positive. Corporate prayer edifies and unifies us as we share our common faith. The same Holy Spirit who dwells within each believer causes our hearts to rejoice as we hear praises to our Lord and Saviour, knitting us together in a unique bond of fellowship found nowhere else in life.

Join us weekly for corporate prayer meetings.

Midweek Bible Study

Midweek Bible Study

Wednesday, October 7, 2026

We're excited to introduce a new Midweek Morning Bible Study this fall!

We'll gather each Wednesday morning to study God's Word together, share meaningful discussion, pray, and encourage one another.

This fall, we'll begin by studying Paul's letter to the Philippians, exploring this encouraging New Testament letter together and considering what it teaches us about following Jesus in everyday life.

Whether you've been part of a Bible study for years or you're taking your first step into a small group setting, everyone is welcome.

We look forward to opening God's Word, learning from one another, and growing together this fall.
