Shaila Visser: God is on the Move

Shaila shared an exciting picture of what God is doing across Canada. People are asking questions. Young people are spiritually curious. Conversations about faith are happening. And perhaps most importantly, she reminded us that the Holy Spirit is already at work in the lives of people around us.

Her challenge to the Church was simple: Will we join Him?

As we look toward the fall at SLAC, that's a question worth carrying with us.

There are people we can invite to church. Friends and coworkers with whom we can have meaningful conversations about faith. Children and youth who need adults willing to know their names, encourage them, pray for them and walk alongside them. Ministries that need people willing to serve. Tables to set, meals to prepare, children to welcome, conversations to begin and countless ordinary opportunities to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

We don't all have the same role, and we aren't all being called to the same place. But every one of us can ask where God is already at work and how He might be inviting us to participate.

So as a new ministry season approaches, perhaps our prayer isn't simply, "God, bless what we're doing."

Perhaps it's:

"Holy Spirit, show me what You're doing... and where You're asking me to join You."

Watch the message. Be challenged. Pray about it.

And then, find your opportunity.

Think of one person in your everyday life who doesn't know Jesus, or perhaps someone you've quietly stopped believing will ever respond to Him.

This week:

Pray for them by name.

Ask the Holy Spirit, "What are You already doing in their life, and how can I join You?"

Then pay attention.

Maybe your next step is listening. A conversation. A coffee. An encouraging text. An invitation.

You don't have to create the opportunity. Ask God to help you recognize the one He's already creating.
