This Sunday - Serving Opportunity, Baptism Celebration

Slave Lake Alliance Church
Newsletter for Friday August 14, 2026
This Sunday at SLAC

This Sunday at SLAC

 Morning Worship – 11 AM,

As we gather this Sunday, we're looking forward to worshipping together as a church family and continuing our journey through the book of Acts.

We're excited to continue our journey through the book of Acts as Pastor Heath brings us this week's message titled: "The Odyssey" from Acts 27:1-44.

Join us in a time of worship through music as we lift our voices together and create space to refocus our hearts on God and His leading.

During the summer months, our Nursery and Kids' Church ministries are taking a seasonal break. Families are invited to pick up one of our Summer Worship Packs from the foyer before the service, filled with colouring pages, activity sheets, crayons, and other quiet activities for children to enjoy during the service.

If someone has been on your heart lately, this could be a wonderful Sunday to invite them to join you.

We're grateful for each of you and look forward to worshipping together this Sunday!

Including a special Baptism Celebration

Join us as we celebrate our Fall Kick-Off with a special Baptism Celebration during the service!

Baptism is a joyful opportunity to publicly declare your faith in Jesus Christ and celebrate the new life He has given.

Have you been thinking about being baptized? We'd love to talk with you. Please connect with Pastor Heath if you're interested or would like to learn more.

Let's come together as a church family to celebrate what God is doing in the lives of His people!

Find Your Place

Find Your Place

Every one of us has been uniquely gifted by God, and every gift has a place in the life of the church.

Some lead from the platform. Others prepare coffee, mentor children, run ProPresenter, pray with others, or quietly serve behind the scenes. While every role looks different, each one helps create a place where people can encounter Jesus, experience genuine community, and feel at home.

This week, we're highlighting our Greeters & Ushers ministry.

A warm smile, a friendly conversation, or helping someone find a seat may seem like a small act, but it can make a lasting impression. For a first-time guest, a welcoming face can ease uncertainty. For someone carrying a heavy week, a simple greeting can remind them they are seen, valued, and loved.

You don't have to be a Bible expert to make an eternal difference. Sometimes the greatest ministry begins with a smile, a listening ear, and a heart that's willing to serve.

If you enjoy meeting people, making others feel welcome, and helping create a warm, inviting atmosphere each Sunday, we'd love to help you find your place on our Greeters & Ushers team. Contact the office if you are interested in joining this team! (info@slavelakealliance.com)

One Church. Many Gifts. One Mission.

Help Shape the Next Generation

Help Shape the Next Generation

Every Sunday is an opportunity to plant seeds of faith that can last a lifetime.

This fall, we're excited to welcome children into our Nursery (ages 0-3) and our newly refreshed Kids' Church (ages 4-11), creating spaces where they can discover God's love, grow in His Word, build lasting friendships, and develop a lifelong faith in Jesus.

We're looking for adults and youth (ages 12+) who have a heart to encourage, teach, laugh, play, listen, and walk alongside our youngest members as they grow in Christ.

You don't have to be a Bible expert to make an eternal difference. Sometimes the greatest ministry begins with a smile, a listening ear, and a heart that's willing to serve.

If God is stirring your heart to invest in the next generation, we'd love to welcome you to our Children's Ministry team. Come discover how your gifts can help children know and follow Jesus.

Contact the office (email: info@slavelakealliance.com) for more information or to express interest.

Midweek Morning Bible Study

Midweek Morning Bible Study

We're excited to announce that our Midweek Morning Bible Study will be returning this fall!

Soon, we'll gather on Wednesday mornings at 10:30 AM to study God's Word together, share meaningful discussion, pray, and encourage one another.

Whether you've been part of a Bible study for years or you're taking your first step into a small group setting, everyone is welcome.

We're just putting the finishing touches on the details, including our start date and study format. Be sure to watch our website and weekly newsletter for updates and registration information.

We look forward to growing together in God's Word this fall.

Living a Story Worth Sharing

Living a Story Worth Sharing

Every one of us has a story.

For Paul, that story included where he had been, how he encountered Jesus, and how his life was forever changed. Standing before governors and kings, he didn't simply defend himself. He pointed people to the One who had transformed him.

Most of us won't stand before kings, but every day God places people in our path who are watching how we live, how we respond, and where we place our hope.

Sometimes the most powerful witness isn't having all the right answers. It's showing kindness, listening well, extending grace, and living with quiet confidence in Christ.

As you go about your week, remember that your life may be the first glimpse of Jesus that someone else encounters.

A life shaped by Jesus often speaks long before words are ever needed.

Share Your Story

Share Your Story

This week, spend a few quiet moments reflecting on your own journey with Jesus.

Ask yourself:

"How has Jesus changed my life?"

You don't need a dramatic testimony to point others to Christ. Sometimes the most meaningful stories are the quiet ones, marked by God's faithfulness through everyday moments.

Pray that God would give you one opportunity this week to encourage someone, listen well, or simply share why your faith gives you hope.

You don't have to persuade anyone on your own. God is already at work in people's hearts, and He invites us to faithfully share the hope we have in Him.

Pray:

"Lord, help my life reflect Your love, and give me the courage to gently share the hope I have in You."

Sometimes the greatest invitation to follow Jesus begins with a life that faithfully reflects Him.
