Children's Ministry Update- for Families
Good morning church! As briefly mentioned, we want to share a little more background on where we are at as a church, specifically in the area of children's ministry. This is for everyone in our congregation to be aware of, and we are looking for feedback especially if you have kids but also from anyone who has a passion or interest for serving! This past year has brought about a lot of change in many of our ministries. Even routine things like gathering on a Sunday morning for services became more challenging as you know. We started children’s Sunday School last fall and were only able to run it for a couple of months before pausing, and we didn’t end up starting up again due to multiple closures/re-openings and changes in the restrictions that occurred the first part of 2021 into the spring. We want you to know that we deeply care about all of our families and children who attend SLAC. You are vitally important to the sharing of the gospel and reaching our community even further! We want to continue serving the needs of all of our children and youth and are seeking the best ways to do this given the current climate of our community and considering the changes that have occurred over the past year. We want to move in the direction of growth as a church and be able to serve in the specific ways that God leads. We have been praying about this as church leadership for awhile now and continue to do so! Last year’s Sunday school program (for kids ages 4 up to Grade 6) ran for a couple of months as mentioned before we had to shut it down. During the first few months, the average attendance was 4-6 children total, spread among 3 classes (Age 4-Grade 2, Grades 3-4 and Grades 5-6). These are very low numbers. This coming fall we have a couple of kids moving up into the youth age group (Grade 7-12) as well as at least one family moving out of town. We have not gained or increased our numbers a lot at this point in the younger age groups (Age 4-Grade 6) for this coming year. Our Kids Club which encompassed Age 4-Grade 4 has also stopped and started over the years. We would like to know- what is the best way to invest in our children? What should we offer that will meet the needs of our kids and families- addressing the spiritual, physical and emotional? Parents especially, we greatly value your feedback! This is a VERY SHORT survey to complete on your phone or computer when you have a few minutes. Please click the link below to complete the survey. We are also looking for comments on positive outcomes of past kids ministries and areas for improvement (to give feedback on that, you can call us, email or reply to this message). Thanks everyone! Pastor Heath
